Description
The Northwell OB-GYN Hospitalist Fellowship Program is a one-year, non-ACGME training program that is geared toward those OB-GYNs who are interested in leadership roles in hospitalist medicine. The fellowship program provides advanced education in hospital-based obstetrics and gynecology, focuses on maximizing patient safety.
The program will provide a strong clinical, surgical, and healthcare systems training in both an academic and hospital settings. Our fellow will benefit from training at a high-volume, high-acuity referral center. Combined, Long Island Jewish and Northshore-Manhasset does approximately 14,000 deliveries per year. The fellows will receive high-quality training by experienced OB-GYN, maternal fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, family planning, and anesthesiology faculty. Fellows will also be exposed to national leaders in the specialty at the annual Society of OB-GYN Hospitalists meeting, where fellows will be encouraged to present research projects. The goal of the OB-GYN hospitalist fellowship is to provide the fellow with the knowledge, experience, and skills to practice as an OB/GYN hospitalists. The curriculum is linked to the 6 ACGME competencies which include medical knowledge, patient care, professionalism, interpersonal and communication skills, practice-based learning and improvement, and systems-based practice.
Qualifications
- Applicants must have completed an accredited four-year residency training program in obstetrics and gynecology. Fellows will be required to have a New York license, in addition to being ABOG board eligible or board certified. It is designed to supplement the training of an actively practicing physician or recent graduate who desires to pursue a career as an OB-GYN Hospitalist.
